Mixing Diphenhydramine and MDMA
- Diphenhydramine also called
- benadryl, dph, sleep aid, zzzquil, unisom
- MDMA also called
- molly, ecstasy, ecstacy, xtc, mandy, pills
Unsafe
Diphenhydramine is a strong anticholinergic: it suppresses sweating and impairs the body's ability to shed heat. MDMA already raises body temperature and is most dangerous when someone cannot cool down. Blocking thermoregulation during MDMA use turns hyperthermia — the main way MDMA kills people — into a much more likely outcome.
This combination carries bodily risk and can go badly psychologically. The headspace part often arrives first and makes the physical part harder to notice.
